Last week, I evaluated how accurately I made predictions for 2007 and how poorly I followed through with my resolutions. I took a lot longer than I thought to come up with five of each for 2008 for some reason but I eventually did so here are some things I think might happen in the next year and goals I should strive toward in that same time frame. The new year always seems to sneak up on me and I don’t really realize it until I have to start writing the next year on checks, papers, and whatnot. Around this time last year, I made my first annual set of predictions and resolutions and now I’ll see how well or poorly I did. Short answer: I performed averagely on both accounts.

With the industry panels beginning tomorrow at Anime Expo and Otakon taking place in just three weeks, many big-name licenses are sure to be announced by the major US distributors. There will be confirmations of previously discovered domain names, logical steps and sequels based on previous licenses, and a few out of the left left field” announcements. The slam dunks and the relative unknowns share the stage of their respective industry panels. It’s the perfect time for fans to play prognosticator and predict how the chips will fall regarding the R1 fates of their favorite titles. No end-of-year reflections are complete without looking forward and making predictions that may not come true about the coming year. The same goes for making resolutions so, after thinking on-and-off the past couple days, I have formulated five statements along with “five” resolutions that I plan to fulfill in the coming twelve months.
