Regular meetings for my anime club began last Wednesday and Thursday and while it was a little odd watching the new management running the operation, I figured I would at least get a feel for the larger, slightly newer crowd and also a few series I hadn’t sampled before. What follows are my impressions of what was shown during the first three sessions.

There was also a head-on camera angle.

Okay, first off: I have two corrections to make to Monday’s AAA post. #1 is that the individual awards are also called Mechas. I could have sworn I had read about that name a couple months ago and just plain forgot until I looked at some of the stories published after the ceremony. #2 is that you CAN stream the ceremony online, according to ANN. (Windows Media Player handled it well for me.) This week featured the first meetings of DAC for the 2006-07 school year. Instead of continuing One Piece or Naruto, we decided to start fresh so anyone starting out this year won’t be frustrated by coming in the middle. I apparently got elected as vice-president last year and I’m trying to work with another officer to make posters and member cards. We’re trying to get many T-shirt design submissions earlier this year so that people wear them earlier. This should be an interesting year and I can’t wait until the trip to Japantown sometime in November, especially J-Town is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Saturday, the Davis Anime Club (DAC) had their Big Showing where the officers for the next year exhibit first episodes from some shows that could be on next year’s schedule. There was also a Karaoke/AMV room, Video Games room, and Movie/OVA room. Well, at least it started with four rooms…
